In Mt 19:23-26, Jesus was telling His disciples how difficult it is for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God; rather, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus added that with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Have we ever in our life ever doubted the power of God to accomplish things that we asked Him for, like converting someone to be a Christian, or when we face difficulties in our life that we need God’s help to overcome?
In the lesson of the Withered Fig Tree in Mat 21:21-22, Jesus taught that “If we have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” There are things that we find difficult to do when we rely on our own words and strength, but as Christians, when we pray and ask God for help, we should have faith and it can be done provided that it is not against the will of God.
Nothing in this world is too difficult for God to accomplish. In Num 11:23, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.”
God wants us as Christians and also all men to leave all our cares and worries to Him. We can see that the word “All” is mentioned a few times already in the verses quoted above, such as “with God all things are possible”, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive”.
This is repeatedly emphasised in the bible: 1Pe 5:7 says “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” We can leave everything in God’s hand, trusting that He is able to take good care of it. And again, in Mat 11:28-29: “Come unto me, all (everyone) ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
With this biblical encouragement, “let us seek the LORD and his strength” (Psa 105:4), through which we are able to accomplish and overcome difficult tasks ahead of us. Our God is able to provide more of what we can ask for (Eph 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”)
Let us put our trust in God rather than in man (Psa 118:8). Let us trust in His strength rather than our own, because:
The Lord is our strength and shield, and if we put our trust in Him, we can rejoice that we will be helped (Psa 28:7)
God is our refuge and fortress, and will shield us in times of trouble (Psa 91:2)
And lastly, God will bless us if we put our trust in Him (Psa 84:12)
