TEACH ME LORD TO WAIT
One of my favourite hymns is Hymn 884 from the Praise for the Lord hymnal – “Teach Me Lord To Wait”. This hymn is about our Lord teaching us, His beloved children, to wait upon Him. Although hymns are written by men, God can teach us through hymns as well because He is the sole Authority who can use men to write hymns that strengthen our faith in Him. What should our attitude be when God teaches? “Teach me Lord”. Our hearts have to be eager to learn, listening well with our

THANKFULNESS
No man is an island and we are constantly in need of help. We turn to people for help and ultimately to God. Sometimes, we offer appreciation and thanksgiving but at times we do not. We take things for granted and we may even become ungrateful as a result. The account of the cleansing of the ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19) teaches us of the necessity to be thankful and not ungrateful. Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem and passed through Samaria and Galilee. He was met by ten leper

EVERYDAY OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHARING THE GOSPEL
Some may think that evangelism belongs only to preachers, missionaries, or elders and deacons, but the New Testament teaches that every follower of Christ has a role in helping others come to know about the gospel and the power of salvation through Christ’s blood. It is both a great privilege and responsibility that God has given to all Christians, to share the gospel with others. Before ascending into heaven, Jesus instructed His followers to “Go into all the world and pre

HOT WEATHER IN SINGAPORE
“Europe braces itself for a prolonged heatwave as temperatures approach 40°C”, an article from The Straits Times reported. Extreme hot weather has become increasingly common in recent years. In Singapore, the highest temperature ever recorded was 37°C at Ang Mo Kio in 2023. Due to our high humidity, sweat evaporates more slowly from our skin, causing our sticky bodies to feel approximately 2 to 3°C warmer than the actual temperature. I would like to use the analogy of the hea

THE GRATEFUL BLIND MAN TOOK A STAND (JOHN 9 PART 2)
The Jews/Pharisees were determined to dispute and unsettle the claims of the healed man. They failed miserably. The man was equally determined to defend the Lord. He challenged them instead to disprove his claim, angering the Jews even further. Healed Man’s Immediate Testimony The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvellous thing, that you do not know where He is from. Yet, He has opened my eyes! Now we know God does not answer sinners, but if anyone is a worshi

THE MAN BORN BLIND - JOHN 9 PART 1
Context & Introduction I read and studied the Book of John chapter 9 when I was in hospital recently and decided to write and expound upon this heart-warming episode. Prior to this, Jesus had begun His ministry and confounded his critics and listeners alike. He spoke of himself “before Abraham was I” (John 8:58). He had cleansed others of demon possession and gave several warnings to those who opposed his divine message. Their response was to attempt to stone him (John 8:59).
